                I had to format my computer and found a 'codec' that does the conversion for free and that's all I needed. But it did work well!<br />
Thanks.

                My banks and credit card providers and broker all use PDF to provide my statements. Few of them offer reasonable ASCII alternatives. After developing my own portfolio accounting system, I had no way to upload data from the providers without paying a huge amount of money for "professional" access. PDF2TXT solves that problem by letting me write a simple parsing program for each type of statement, now I can get the statement in ASCII format. Also, my work involves supporting scientific curators who read PDF publications to annotate a genome. With ASCII versions of these documents, we can now use indexing tools to automate a significant portion of the process. I have only two issues with the product. The user interface is completely different from all the other applications I use, though it's easy to use once you get used to it. The "free trial" isn't really free as it provides only limited conversion. Find another way.

                Features/Ease of use:<br />
This tool worked pretty ok. Some layout in the PDF changed a little but it was doing a good job and exactly what I needed.<br />
<br />
Interface:<br />
To my opinion the interface of this tool is a little to bloated but that's just a matter of taste.<br />
<br />
Price/value: <br />
I hardly need this functionality so i think for me it is a little expensive. If I would need to use it more often the price/value would be ok.<br />
<br />
I need this tool for converting a directory full of errorreports which are in PDF format. After converting to TXT i now can use grep-like commands and other tricks so I can easily report about the occured errors.

            <description>
                The software converts very quickly but there are many words that are broken with spaces between groups of letters within a word. Also ther are large spaces between words. This is not acceptable.

There are many PDf file that I download that I must increase the text size before I print them. Printing directly form the PDF on line will not permit me to increase the text size. Most text in the PDF file is too small for good reading.

It permits tme to increae the text size and to print it in a workable form.

            <description>
                Functional but effective UI. Unable to comment on useability. My requirement was to extract text from a number of PDF's. The extraction failed. Googling, it seems likely that the PDF's in question have partial embedded fonts, and thus custom font code tables. Nothing short of OCR is going to work so it's not a failure of your program. Known problem, no known workaround except OCR.
